In iOS 14, Apple added a privacy setting called Local Network for Apps that access the local network. When this setting is on apps can discover devices on your local network. Cortex Onboard & WatchMate require this privacy setting to be enabled, so that it can discover and connect to the Hub’s network service.

It seems on updating Cortex Onboard & WatchMate Apps in iOS 14, sometimes the Local Network setting defaults to off, and the user is not prompted to confirm whether this is correct.
The impact of this is that Cortex Onboard & WatchMate Apps cannot fully connect to the Transponder Device, and displays the Trying To Connect overlay.
To check (and alter if necessary) that Local Network access is granted to Cortex Onboard & WatchMate Apps.
Open Settings
Scroll down until you see the App, either Cortex Onboard or WatchMate
Select the Cortex Onboard or WatchMate App & toggle Local Network if necessary
Once done, the WatchMate app should be restarted.
Make sure your iOS device is connected to the XB transporter over WiFI before launching the App.
