A good diagnostic tool for the functionality of transponder is to check the AIS status page.
From any view-tap the menu button or icon on the handset.
Next tap the configuration (wrench)>systems>AIS
Here you can see the health of the transponder
including TX and RX of both AIS channels, number of messages sent and received
and RSSI which is noise around the device-
- Typical Values: +/- 120 dBm
- RSSI Above -77 dBm triggers a “background noise warning” (e.g. blinking green LED on XB8000 / XB6000)
- Values above -100 dBm (e.g., -99, -98, …) indicate external noise source
